For those who may remember, I had a Grom last year for a few months. I bought it at the start of summer for cheap and sold it for what I paid for it at the end of summer . Now the dealership down the street f rom me has brand new Z125s for less than I paid for the Grom. I may or may not do the same thing as last year and see if I can basically rent a minibike for a few months for the price of insurance.

I know I was looking at turning the FoST in to buy a pickup truck but the deals are crap in my area and my company slowed down so much we almost shut down multiple times in the past month sooooooo I’m no longer willing or able to take that risk. The Z125 can, like I said, at least be sold for what I have into it really quickly.

I also thought about trading in my fost for a truck at some point. I think eventually I’m going to get a cheap used transit connect panel van for around the house/carrying bikes and buy a more comfortable performance DD to replace the FoST (think S5 Sportback, TLX Type S, MK8R, etc.)

If you enjoyed the grom, and you can get a z125 for cheap, I don’t see why not if you are able to get your money out of it later.

Lol. I don’t plan on ever buying ford again except for the fact that there aren’t really any affordable vans like the transit that won’t rust after a year (looking at you, sprinter)

I learned to ride on a z125 (BRC) ! I really enjoyed it. The seat was a little hard and it was a little small for me (6', 175 lbs), but it was a blast. It wasn’t long before I was going through most of the training exercises at full throttle. But if you’re used to a grom then I imagine it would be a logical lateral move.

Nice! I took BRC on a TW200. I like those too, but the Z is much cheaper and lighter for city riding. I have a KLR 650, a Yamaha TDM850, and a Triumph Trophy 1200 for bigger bikes so it’ll fit in well!

Yeah, I’m done with Ford after my FoST. I might get a veloster down the line but when Ford decided that the edge sport could be rebadged as the ST after they axed the cars, I wrote them off at that point.

Funnily enough the bike I’ve really been wishing I could get over here is the Yamaha MT-15. With 155cc of gutless power greatly enhanced by all the fancy stuff like Öhlins shock kits as shown below.

When I got my bike license years ago I already knew how to ride, the price of the course rolled in the test attempt price, and got me some bike-on-road practice. So I thought it was a good move. It 100% was, but when they let us do our first couple laps they told us we could go as fast as we wanted. They assumed everyone would just putt around ripping throttles in 1st gear. I was in 5th gear coming around my second lap and was flagged over. They could tell I already knew how to ride and told me to go practice my slow maneuvers. Which was really great practice for me coming from dirt bikes, trikes, and ATV’s. And was worth the look on both instructors’ faces.
